I'll save your ass here Nats, Veto. Even if Peavy were coming back in April, he's washed up and overrated. He was a recipient of a good fortune and a good ballpark early in his career, but US Cellular is one of the worst pitcher parks in the MLB. Not only is Shields better than Peavy, but Clippard and the 1st round pick are ALSO better than Peavy.
(PS sorry you got a shitty team Indians, but the old Indians thought he was gonna make the playoffs... so yeah. I guess you got a good minor league system though.)

Approve.
Did anyone see Peavy pitch before his second injury last year? He was good. And by the way, Shields had an ERA last year of 5.18. I think this could be a wash as Clippard had good luck early last season. Peavy is an ace type pitcher when healthy.
Shields line from last season:
13 W 15 L 203.1 IP 246 H 187 K 5.18 ERA 1.46 WHIP
And he has gotten worse each of the last two seasons as he has logged a TON of innings. Peavy, if he can return from injury, is a far better pitcher than Shields.

i'm not a fan of this trade. i would feel much better if clippard or the 1st rd was dropped from it. but i believe there is nothing shady here or league shattering so i will give it the final approval needed.
