This involves youth and minor league rosters, as well as your job as a GM. This is not necessarily who is best at the moment.
For the AL:
1. Angels - You can't go wrong with Felix and Hanson at the head of the rotation. Tulo should be great for many years to come.
2. Rays - Longo is the league's best third baseman. The outfield is youthful, and both of his starters are stars prior to age 30. Will either get picks or discounts for the many former Rays players upcoming in free agency.
3. Rangers - Feliz, Greinke, Johnson, Andrus. Four young players already making their mark in the league.
4. Red Sox - An all-around very good team. A good mix of youth for the future and veterans for now.
5. Tigers - I'm a huge fan of Verlander. Not much else for the future and that's why they are ranked here.
6. Orioles - Once they fill out their roster they will be very good.
7. Yankees - Deep farm system. Only question is if they can get under the cap.
8. Twins - Great job getting top prospects through trade.
9. White Sox - Terrible lineup but great starters. Prospects have them lined up for the future.
10. Mariners - Very solid rotation and good infield. Ranked in this spot because they traded away all of their top prospects.
11. Royals - Best farm system in the league. However, they can't contend now, so I can't put them too high.
12. Indians - Impressive lineup but not too much pitching.
13. Athletics - Great, young rotation. Also, they have some cap room for free agency (if they were ever on!)
14. Blue Jays - Traded away their top two prospects in Drabek and Lawrie. Not much there now, either.
This is a trial run for these power rankings. I did them to have fun, not to hurt any particular team. Please leave comments in the space below!
