The Yankees give 2B Robinson Cano $10M 2011++ to the Astros for 2B Aaron Hill $5M 2011+, SP Chris Narveson (2) $0.5M, and prospects 2B Jarek Cnningham and SS Jurickson Profar.
I did this trade because even thogh Cano is a great 2B he makes $10M now and $14 and $15 if the opotions are picked up but I think that he will get a long term deal next year worth a lot more than I can afford with having CC and ARod on my team. Hill may re-sign but not nearly for as much as Cano and I already have Beckham. Profar was what got the deal done though, I really like him a lot.

I accepted this trade to get a great secondbaseman. He will cost me a lot whether he signs a big deal or not but I get good numbers for that position. Losing Profar hurts as he is one of the best Rangers prospects but I will surrvive

approve, btu yanks is giving away some great payers without thinking some of it through imo I have thought it through. The only reason why guys like Cano, Granderson, and Teixeira were traded is because they were the only ones people were interested in moving. No one wants to touch A-rod's contract or even Posada and C.C. (though I have had a couple of really bad offers for him). I had to get under cap and trading away the "better" players seemed the only way to do it.

Veto. You lose about 5m of cap (not much) and Hill isn't a very good replacement for Cano. As a big Yankees fan, I see a lot more in Cano than a decent-good second baseman and some 5 starters and bench guys.

Veto Cano is worth a lot more, after Jeter is retired he will be the new Yankees captain, Hill is not the Hill of '09 and spects arent worth Cano imo

Profar is one of the best SS prospects in the majors and Hill had an extremely unlucky year last year with a .196 babip opposed to a career .288 babip. Cano's only going to get more expensive. It's a pretty even trade.

It's a pretty even trade. Profar is a solid spect but he's very young and he still needs a lot of work on his hitting. Who knows if he'll become anything?
