Bryan has put me in charge of the schedule for the season. I have a few questions I would like to hear what people have to say about my ideas
1) How long of a regular season? (MLB season is 26 total) -so either 20-one week matchups and 3-two week playoff matchups -or 23-one week matchups and 3-one week playoff matchups *I like the 20 regular season matchups and two week playoff matchups
2) Balanced or un-balanced divisional schedules -balance being all division teams play the same teams the same amount of time, and ultimately same interleague teams -unbalanced being that all teams schedules are generated randomly. all play same number of intradivisional, intraleague and interleague games
Thanks for your help! Once I get some suggestions, I will start getting a schedule put together and post it

I think that you should play your division twice.

Against your division twice, one to begin the season, one to end it

Interleague play should only be in June when actual interleague play is happening.

Thyen i would say play each division opponet twice. interleague play in June. and i would rather have the 3 week playoff but i would not complain with the other option.

how does this sound?
20 weeks of regular season 6 of playoffs ( your idea)
first 3-5 (based on division) divisonal alternating random opponents (interleague and regular) until week 15 16-20 divisinol
so some people play 3 divisional mathcup

After looking for and attempting to schedule the first time I have come up with the following outline
The AL East, AL Central, NL East and NL West will play each divisional opponent twice. Once at the beginning and one at the end of the season.
AL West will play each divisional opponent three times. NL Central will play each divisional opponent twice, but will not play a balanced intraleague schedule.
All AL and NL teams will play every other intraleague team once (with the exception of NL Central)
With the above being set, interleague play with be a little bit like it is in real life. Not exactly balanced. It is next to impossible to get all the games and teams to be balanced.
AL East, AL Central, NL East and NL West teams will play three interleague games, while AL West and NL Central teams will play two.
Still getting everything to work, so things may change a bit. This is quite the puzzle to get the schedule to work correctly.
