I don't know if this has already been followed, but I want to make it official...
On Cubs' roster, he has Lackey listed as $10.25m. His 2012 salary is really $15.25m. Unless this was a typo on Cubs' part, Red Sox should owe Cubs $5m for this year.
Not suggesting that people are trying to pull dirty tricks, because I don't think they are, but trading for a player that is $5m more is unattractive.
Sorry for the big speech, and sorry Red Sox, this is not your fault. It's just an example! Thoughts on this?

So what is the new rule idea?

If a player is traded for a lower salary than he really is, the team that traded him owes the difference.

Actually Tigers traded Lackey.

Yes but Red Sox originally had Lackey. Unless some is paid for or the salary was botched along the way, the first person who had the salary listed as $10.25m should owe you $5m

Ohhh...then Cubs should note that also. Don't know if he did. Thanks Rockies.
Anyway, is this a good rule in the future?

i dont think it was ever told to me in the trade. But yeah i think this is a smart rule for the future. Just for the record I shouldn't have needed to tell you. It was listed right next to his name on my roster.

Also is this for trades going forward or will it apply to passed trades as well?
When I traded for Wainwright Cards had the wrong salary listed which I didn't learn until afterwards.

It should only be for future trades, not past ones.

yeah we cant make a rule and apply it for previous stuff. Thats like saying spitting in public is a felony in the U.S., so everyone who has ever spat in public goes to jail.
