What is the punishment for going over the cap.
I noticed that one team is currently over the cap and a few other teams have a little space.
With the way that bidding is going (Victor Martinez in particular), I can see other teams going over the cap.
My questions are:
1.) Would you still be able to sign a FA that puts a team over the cap? 2.) Would a team over the cap be able to make a trade where they absorb more salary? 3.) How long do you get to get under the cap?

1.) Would you still be able to sign a FA that puts a team over the cap?
No. Allowing teams to bid over their limit would allow teams to drive up the price of FA despite not having the money to pay for the FA. It's a very cheap strategy.
2.) Would a team over the cap be able to make a trade where they absorb more salary?
Yes, as long as they get below the limit by the time the season starts.
3.) How long do you get to get under the cap?
Until the season starts.
